Fleury podobne nebol pripravený urobiť definitívne rozhodnutie ani v apríli, keď Dallas Stars vyradili Wild v prvom kole play-off. Ikonický brankár po sérii povedal, že plánuje hrať v sezóne 2023/2024, ale mohla by to byť jeho posledná sezóna.
Kedykoľvek sa Fleury rozhodne zavesiť korčule na klinec, ukončí kariéru ako jeden z najobľúbenejších brankárov v histórii ligy a istý adept na vstup do Hokejovej siene slávy.
Fleury je s 544 víťazstvami na treťom mieste historického rebríčka víťazov NHL a v sezóne 2023/2024 môže na druhom mieste zosadiť Patricka Roya (551 víťazstiev). V 985 zápasoch dosiahol úspešnosť zákrokov 91,3 percent a priemer 2,58 inkasovaného gólu na zápas. V tejto sezóne bude mať šancu stať sa len štvrtým brankárom, ktorý nastúpil na 1000 zápasov v najprestížnejšej hokejovej lige sveta.
Trojnásobný víťaz Stanleyho pohára sa v minulej sezóne delil o bránkovisko s Filipom Gustavssonom a zaznamenal bilanciu 24-16-4 s úspešnosťou zákrokov 90,8%. Pre veterána Fleuryho sú to určite obdivuhodné čísla, ale 25-ročný Gustavsson sa v Minnesote presadil vo veľkom štýle, keď v 39 vystúpeniach dosiahol vynikajúcu úspešnosť zákrokov 93,1 percent.
Wild dali Gustavssonovi päť zo šiestich štartov v play-off, ale Fleury v máji novinárom povedal, že chce zostať v Minnesote, aj keby to znamenalo, že bude mať menšiu úlohu.
Pred niekoľkými rokmi si málokto myslel, že Fleury bude v tejto pozícii. Po tom, čo sa stal neoddeliteľnou súčasťou Vegas Golden Knights ako ich prvý brankár v histórii klubu a v roku 2021 vyhral Vezinovu trofej.

Fleury je stále nadpriemerným brankárom. V prípade zisku štvrtého Stanleyho pohára by sa Fleury dostal na tretie miesto v histórii NHL medzi brankármi. Legendy Montrealu Canadiens Ken Dryden a Jacques Plante získali po šesť, zatiaľ čo hviezda Toronta Maple Leafs pred rozšírením Turk Broda päť.
