Defenzívu ambiciózneho Popradu rozšíri odchovanec Boris Česánek, ktorý je známy svojou tvrdou hrou a dôraznou defenzívou.
Dvadsaťtriročný nový prírastok do mužstva vedeného českým kormidelníkom Alešom Totterom mal minulú sezónu mimoriadne pestrú. Za jeden ročník 2022/23 totižto vystriedal až štyri kluby a tri ligy! V Tipos Extralige nastupoval v drese rivala zo Spišskej Novej Vsi (13 zápasov, 0+0), okúsil aj Tipos SHL, tam nastupoval nie len za Dubnicu (4 zápasy, 0 kanadských bodov) ale aj za HK Brezno (9 zápasov, 0+1). Sezónu napokon dohral vo Vsetíne, s ktorým došiel až do finále Chance ligy, bodovo mu pôsobenie v tradičnom českom klube prinieslo 3 asistencie za 23 stretnutí.
Poprad vsádza kartu na obranu z minulej sezóny
Športový riaditeľ Ľudovít Jurinyi možno pomerne prekvapivo neurobil veľa zmien v obrane, ktorá tím spod Tatier trápila celú minulú sezónu. Mimo Česánka do nej pribudol kanadský obranca Garrett McFadden, ktorý by mal byť jedným z lídrov tímu. Ďalej prišiel len ďalší mladý odchovanec Oliver Turan zo zostupujúceho Prešova. Naopak, po zranení sa k tímu pripojí dlhoročná opora Daniel Brejčák a v lepšom svetle sa chcú určite ukázať aj obrancovia ako Jakub Meliško, Oldrich Kotvan, či Adam Drgoň, ktorý po výborných sezónach zaznamenal značný pokles formy.
