Druhý tridsiatnik v mladom tíme
Marcel Petran je po kapitánovi Martinovi Przygodzkimu druhým tridsiatnikom v tíme. Práve skúsená posila do defenzívy by mohla tímu hlavného trénera Dušana Brincka výrazne pomôcť, keďže v defenzíve je najstarší len 23-ročný rodák zo Spišskej Novej Vsi, Alexander Zekucia, prípadne teda 24-ročný Boris Brincko, ktorý ale nastupuje primárne za A-tím HK Poprad.
Marcel Petran sa vrátil po necelých piatich sezónach
Pre Petrana nie je Poprad žiadnou neznámou, v jeho drese strávil časť sezóny 2017/18 a následne celý ročník 2018/19. Za sebou má rodák z Liptova niekoľko zahraničných angažmánov, keď hral postupne v Maďarsku, Anglicku, Kazachstane a napokon aj v Česku, kde nastupoval za Havířov a následne hosťoval v Extraligovom Zlíne. Po tom ako odišiel z Extraligových klzísk pôsobil v TIPOS Slovenskej hokejovej lige, kde nastupoval prv za Žilinu a následne sa paradoxne upísal rivalovi a teda nastupoval za HK Martin. Po skončení pôsobenia tímu v slovenskej hokejovej lige hral Petran tretiu ligu, za Detvu stihol duelov (5+6) a teraz sa v drese Pikes vracia do celkovo druhej najvyššej súťaže.
