V sobotu bola oznámená zmena na pozícii hlavného trénera ženskej reprezentácie. Arta Sieppieho vystrieda jeho asistent, Miroslav Mosnár.
Sieppi je ako člen realizačného tímu šesťnásobným majstrom sveta v ženskej kategórii. Kormidlo Sloveniek prebral v októbri 2022. Na augustových majstrovstvách sveta A1 divízie v čínskom Šen-čene slovenské reprezentantky prehrali všetkých päť zápasov a vypadli do nižšej kategórie. Chuť víťazstva nezažili ani na tohto sezónnych turnajoch v Budapešti, resp. Bratislave.
„Po domácom turnaji sme vzájomne dospeli k záveru, že naša ženská reprezentácia má za sebou náročnú sezónu, ktorú poznačil nevydarený šampionát a vypadnutie do nižšej kategórie. Zhodli sme sa, že dievčatá potrebujú pred blížiacim sa šampionátom B-skupiny nový impulz, aby naplnili cieľ, ktorým je postup do A-skupiny I. divízie majstrovstiev sveta a aby si vybojovali čo najlepšiu pozíciu v kvalifikácii o účasť na zimných olympijských hrách 2026. Artovi ďakujeme za profesionálny prístup a prácu pre slovenský ženský hokej,“ povedala generálna manažérka našich ženských hokejových reprezentácii Ľubomíra Kožanová.
Hlavným trénerom sa stal Miroslav Mosnár, ktorý doposiaľ pôsobil ako Sieppiho asistent. Ako tréner doviedol Spišskú Novú Ves k postupu do extraligy. „Pripravuje základnú kostru dievčat-reprezentantiek v centralizovanej príprave v ŠKP Bratislava. Hráčky pozná najlepšie, keďže bol asistent Arta Sieppiho. Jeho angažovanie bolo logickým vyústením vzniknutej situácie,“ dodala smerom k angažovaniu Mosnára Kožanová.
