ECHL, ktorá je treťou zámorskou seniorskou súťažou po NHL a AHL je pravidelnou studňou importov pre Tipos Extraligu. Inak tomu nie je ani tento rok, keď si to z nej namierilo na slovenské klziská hneď niekoľko hráčov. Na tých najzaujímavejších bude zameraný tento článok.
Zack Andrusiak (z Fort Wayne Komets do HK Spišská Nová Ves)
Jednu z najväčších posíl z ECHL predstavila Spišská Nová Ves, ktorá angažovala 26-ročného útočníka Zacka Andrusiaka. Rodený strelec má za sebou vydarenú sezónu, keď patril k lídrom Cincinatti Cyclones, kde bol po obrancovi Jalenovi Smereckovi druhým najproduktívnejším hráčom tímu. Počas minulej sezóny nastúpil za Cyclones do 57 duelov, v ktorých stretlil 31 gólov a na rovnaký počet gólov asistoval. Zack je jedným z troch predstavených legionárov “rysov“ do ofenzívy, keď na súpiske okrem neho nájdeme aj Dante Hanouna a centra Connora Forda.
Wade Murphy (z Idaho Steelheads do HC Slovan Bratislava)
Výraznú posilu z ECHL predstavil aj tím z hlavného mesta, kam si to namieril 30-ročný pravý krídelník Wade Murphy. Pre skúseného útočníka to nie je prvá európska skúsenosť, v minulosti pôsobil v Nórsku aj v ICEHL, kde obliekal dres Olimpije Ľjubľana. Bývalý prospekt New Yorku Rangers má za sebou vynikajúci ročník, počas ktorého odohral za Idaho Steelheads 52 zápasov (25+41), vďaka čomu mal priemer 1.27 kanadského bodu na zápas! Vo vyraďovacích bojov potvrdil svoju formu, odohral desať zápasov a prispel piatimi zápasmi a šiestimi asistenciami.
„Neviem sa dočkať príchodu do Slovana. Teším sa na nových spoluhráčov, fanúšikov a celkovo na mesto Bratislava. Už som tu raz bol a mesto som si zamiloval. Moji bývalí spoluhráči, ktorí pôsobili v drese Slovana, mi povedali aké je toto miesto špeciálne a je mi cťou tu byť. Poďme Slovan!,“ uviedol pre klubový web Wade Murphy.
Brett Stapley (z Utah Grizzlies do HK Dukla Trenčín)
V lepšie časy veria “vojaci“ z Dukly Trenčín, ktorým minulá sezóna skončila už v kvalifikácii proti neskorším majstrom z Nitry. Jedným z motorov by mohol byť 25-ročný center Brett Stapley, ktorý by si mal rozumieť aj s ďalším legionárom, Lukom Burzanom. Brett počas sezóny 2023/24 patril k lídrom Utahu, kde dokonca vyhral aj tímovú produktivitu. Dá sa vôbec mať od hráča, ktorý zaznamenal 71 kanadských bodov (24+41) za 67 zápasov iné očakávania ako tie najvyššie?
Julian Junca (z Tulsa Oilers do HK Dukla INGEMA Michalovce)
Pred sezónou mali naročnú úlohu v Michalovciach, ktorým odišla jasná jednotka a reprezentant Stanislav Škorvánek. Momentálne 26-ročný brankár sa predstavil aj na majstrovstvách sveta v Česku, kde za Francúzsko odchytal 3 duely s priemernou úspešnosťou 87,9%. Ligový ročník strávil primárne v East Coast Hockey League, kde nastúpil do 37 duelov a jeho priemerná úspešnosť zákrokov bola na úrovni 90,1%, dva štarty stihol taktiež v AHL za celok Chicago Wolves.
Matthew Wedman (z Florida Everblades do HC MONACObet Banská Bystrica)
Vstupom nového sponzora hlásia vysoké ambície aj v Banskej Bystrici, kde kormidlo tímu prebral skúsený navrátilec Vladimír Országh. Jedným z lídrov ofenzívy “baranov“ by mal byť center, prípadne ľavý krídelník Matthew Wedman. Produktívny útočník má za sebou rozlietanú sezónu, keď obliekol dres hneď piatich klubov! Najviac zápasov (konkrétne 39) odohral za Fort Wayne Komets, popritom hosťoval v troch tímoch AHL, za ktoré dokopy odohral 25 zápasov s bilanciou 1+2. Sezónu napokon dohral na Floride, a že voľba to bola skvelá! Za Everblades nastupoval len v play-off a napokon sa tešil z majstrovského titulu, ku ktorému prispel 15 kanadskými bodmi (5+10) za 23 duelov, vrátane víťazného gólu.
Gabriel Chicoine (z Maine Mariners do HC MONACObet Banská Bystrica)
Predchádzajúce slová o nemalých ambíciach Bystrice potvrdzuje aj podpis ofenzívneho beka menom Gabriel Chicoine. Gabriel, ktorý by mal byť vekovo pri vrchole svojej kariéry (aktuálne má 27 rokov) je zároveň jediným obrancom na tomto zozname. Počas uplynulého ročníka sa ukázal v drese Maine Mariners vo výbornom svetle, keď bol s 61 kanadskými bodmi (16+45) za 66 stretnutí tretím najproduktívnejším obrancom celej ligy.
“Organizácia na mňa pôsobí profesionálnym dojmom. Počas leta som mal niekoľko rozhovorov s Ľubošom Pisárom a páčilo sa mi, čo som počul o klube a o meste. Z toho, čo som pochopil a počul, slovenská extraliga má svoje kvality, čo z nej robí zaujímavú výzvu a teším sa na súperenie v nej. Rád by som s tímom vyhral titul. Teším sa na fanúšikov a na to, že strávim najbližší rok na Slovensku,“ prezradil ofenzívne ladený obranca.
