Minnesota Wild sa takmer mesiac po otvorení trhu s voľnými hráčmi stále nedohodli so svojím obmedzeným voľným hráčom Marcom Rossim. Situácia je napätá a podľa správ Michaela Russa a Joea Smitha z The Athletic sa obe strany od začiatku júna nerozprávali. Situácia by tak mohla pretrvávať až do začiatku tréningového kempu v polovici septembra.
Už pred júnovým draftom sa objavili správy, že Vancouver Canucks ponúkli za Rossiho výber číslo 15 v prvom kole, no Wild túto ponuku odmietli.
Podľa informácií Russoa Wild počas sezóny ponúkli Rossimu päťročný kontrakt v hodnote 25 miliónov dolárov, čo hráč odmietol. Následne navrhol kratšiu „bridge“ zmluvu, ktorú však Wild zamietli. V najnovšej správe Russo a Smith uvádzajú, že Rossi požaduje dlhodobú zmluvu s priemernou hodnotou 6 až 7 miliónov dolárov ročne. Ako možný kompromis sa črtá krátkodobý kontrakt s hodnotou okolo 5 miliónov ročne.
„Je zrejmé, že existuje rozdielny názor na Marcoho hodnotu,“ povedal jeho agent Ian Pulver ešte v júni. „Budeme naďalej v dobrej viere rokovať s Wild a pokúšať sa nájsť riešenie. Vieme, že Billy (Guerin) má Marca rád, ale za koľko? A v akej úlohe do budúcna? To je predmetom veľkej diskusie. Rovnako ako Wild, aj my si myslíme, že naše návrhy boli férové a rozumné. Čo prinesie budúcnosť, ukáže len čas.“
Marco Rossi zaznamenal v uplynulej sezóne 24 gólov a 60 bodov v 82 zápasoch. V play-off pridal 2 góly a asistenciu v šiestich stretnutiach
Rokovania s Kaprizovom sa ešte len začnú
Hviezda Wild Kirill Kaprizov sa stal od 1. júla oprávneným na podpis novej zmluvy, no rokovania zatiaľ nezačali – čaká sa, kým sa útočník vráti z Ruska. Russo a Smith uviedli, že pred začiatkom kempu by mali prebehnúť osobné rokovania medzi vedením Wild a Kaprizovovým táborom.
Majiteľ klubu Craig Leipold už v minulej sezóne prisľúbil, že Wild Kaprizovovi neponúknu menej než konkurencia.
„Nikto mu neponúkne viac peňazí ako my, ani dlhšiu zmluvu. Jediné, čo musíme dokázať, je, že chceme vyhrávať,“ povedal Leipold.
Kaprizov strelil v minulej sezóne 25 gólov a nazbieral 56 bodov v 41 zápasoch. V play-off pridal päť gólov a štyri asistencie v šiestich zápasoch, no Wild skončili už v prvom kole proti Vegas Golden Knights.
„Som veľmi presvedčený, že sa s Kirillom dohodneme. Myslím si, že toto mesto aj tím skutočne miluje,“ povedal Guerin po vyradení z play-off.
Kaprizov vstupuje do posledného roka svojej päťročnej zmluvy v hodnote 45 miliónov dolárov, ktorá predstavuje ročný plat 9 miliónov. Nový kontrakt by začal platiť od sezóny 2026/27.
Kaprizova draftovala Minnesota v roku 2015 ako celkovo 135. hráča. Doteraz odohral 319 zápasov NHL, v ktorých nazbieral 386 bodov (185 gólov a 201 asistencií). V sezóne 2020/21 získal Calderovu trofej pre najlepšieho nováčika a trikrát sa predstavil na All-Star zápase.
