Legenda San Jose Sharks i NHL, hráč s nejvíce odehranými zápasy v historii ligy Patrick Marleau se vrací do organizace Sharks. Bude zastávat funkci poradce hokejových operací a bude také dohlížet na rozvoj hráčů.
Těším se na spolupráci s našimi hráči a doufám, že moje zkušenosti z 21 odehraných sezón budu moct předat a tím hráče nasměrovat k plnému rozvoji jejich potenciálu. Také se nemohu dočkat spolupráce s Mikem (Mike Grier je GM Sharks) a nové poznatky o hokeji jak na ledě, tak i z pohledu poradce generálního manažera.

Marleau za svých neskutečných 21 sezón v NHL nasbíral za rekordních 1779 zápasů 522 gólů a 1111 bodů, je také držitelem mnoha rekordů za tým. Bohužel se mu s Sharks nepodařilo získat Stanley Cup, v roce 2016 ve finále nestačili na Penguins. I když na svatý grál nedosáhl během jeho působení patřili Sharks k týmum, které byly pravidelně v play-off a spolu s Joem Thortonem patří k ikonám kalifornského klubu, vždyť spolu odehráli neuvěřitelných 12 sezón. Jeho dres s číslem 12 zaslouženě visí pod stropem SAP Center. Na mezinárodním poli byl úspěšnější, s týmem Kanady má zlato ze dvou olympiád (Vancouver 2010 a Soči 2014), Světového Poháru 2004 a Mistrovství Světa 2003.
Příležitost mít v týmu někoho s takovými zkušenostmi a osobností jako je Patrick Marleau je vzácnost. Jako jeden z nejlepších hráčů své generace má Patty nespočet znalosti o hokeji, byl základem úspěchu Sharks a díky němu měla organizace takové úspěchy v předchozích dvou dekádách. Není pochyb, že ví, co je potřeba k výhře a úspěchu v NHL .
