Brent Burns si v poslednom zápase proti LA Kings pripísal na svoje konto historický míľnik, keď prekonal hranicu 900 bodov. Stal sa tak len trinástym obrancom histórie NHL, ktorý dosiahol túto métu. Na Floride oslávil číslo 900 aj Paul Maurice. Ten sa po víťazstve proti Chicagu zapísal do historických kníh ako štvrtý tréner histórie s 900 výhrami.
Jeden z najznámejších a najlepších obrancov tohto storočia, Brent Burns, prekonal hranicu 900 bodov. Stalo sa tak v poslednom zápase proti Los Angeles Kings, keď našiel presnou prihrávkou cez polovicu ihriska Erica Robinsona, ktorý sa nemýlil. Napokon však Hurricanes podľahli doma „kráľom“ 4:2. Skoro 40-ročný obranca odohral v NHL už 1468 zápasov v troch rôznych tímoch. Draftovaný bol v roku 2003 z dvadsiateho miesta Minnesotou, kde strávil osem sezón. V roku 2011 bol vytrejdovaný do San Jose, čo sa neskôr ukázalo ako jedno z najhorších rozhodnutí organizácie Wild. Burns už vtedy bol pomerne dobrým ofenzívnym obrancom a po príchode do Kalifornie sa premenil na jedného z najlepších „bekov“ v NHL. V sezóne 2015/16 si zahral finále Stanleyho pohára, no San Jose nestačilo na Pittsburgh vedený Sidneym Crosbym. Burns patril počas celého play-off k najlepším hráčom, no ani jeho výkony nestačili na prvý titul v histórii Sharks. Okrem toho bol pravidelne produktívny. Dôkazom toho bola šesťnásobná účasť v Zápase Hviezd a Norrisova trofej. Po rokoch špekulácií sa Sharks nakoniec rozhodli vymeniť svoju hviezdu spolu s Laneom Pedersonom do Caroliny, aby mohli začať potenciálnu prestavbu. V rámci tejto dohody získali skromný návrat Stevena Lorentza, Eetu Makiniemiho a voľbu v treťom kole draftu 2023. Kanadský obranca však stále dokazuje, že má potrebnú kvalitu a zatiaľ sa do dôchodku nechystá.

Paul Maurice sa po víťazstve nad Chicagom stal len štvrtým trénerom histórie, ktorý prekonal métu 900 vyhratých zápasov. Cez túto hranicu sa pred ním dostali len Scotty Bowman (1 244), Joel Quenneville (969) a Barry Trotz (914). Tréner Floridy patrí medzi najuznávanejších koučov posledných rokov. Svoju trénerskú kariéru odštartoval hneď po tej hráčskej, ktorá sa pre zranenie oka predčasne skončila. V roku 1995 sa stal hlavným trénerom Hartford Whalers, klubu, ktorý bol neskôr presťahovaný do Severnej Karolíny. Vo veku 28 rokov sa Maurice stal druhým najmladším trénerom v histórii NHL. Mladší bol len Gary Green, ktorý mal 26 rokov, keď v roku 1979 prevzal Washington Capitals. Počas svojej kariéry viedol aj tímy ako Toronto Maple Leafs či Winnipeg Jets, no najväčšie úspechy dosiahol na Floride. S Panthers sa dvakrát prebojoval do finále Stanley Cupu. V roku 2023 jeho tím po úchvatnej jazde nestačil na Vegas Golden Knights, no o rok neskôr dotiahol Panthers až na samotný vrchol a stal sa prvým trénerom v histórii klubu, ktorý im priniesol Stanleyho pohár.
