Príbeh Kirilla Kaprizova je naozaj veľmi prekrásny. Výnimočný talent sa zrodil na mieste, kde by ho hľadal zrejme len málokto. Kirill Kaprizov strávil prvé roky života v sibírskej dedine Kuzdejevo, ktorá má len pár tisíc obyvateľov.
Raz ma otec spoločne s bratom vzal na štadión. Nie na hlavný, ale iba taký menší, na okraji mesta. Mne sa hokej veľmi zapáčil, ale bratovi nie. Skončilo to tak, že po ďalšie štyri roky ma otec každý deň brával na tréning a naspäť. Keď si teraz predstavím, koľko benzínu som mu spálil… Otcovi vďačím za veľa. Celý môj úspech a všetko, čo som dosiahol, je vďaka nemu.
Spomínal Kaprizov na svoje začiatky.
Možno len málokto vie, ale Kaprizov svoj začiatok kariéry strávil na pozícii obrancu. Tam však vydržal len krátko a neskôr sa presunul do útoku.
Hral som v obrane, pretože som vždy výborne korčuľoval dozadu, ale potom ma presunuli do útoku. Možno preto, že som nízky.
Povedal Kaprizov.
Úžasné je, že Kaprizov nikdy nepatril medzi špičku draftu. V roku 2015 si ho vybrali v piatom kole draftu, o dve miesta pred Dominikom Simonom a niekoľko miest za Conorom Garlandom a Ethanom Bearom. A to, že si ho vybrali práve Wild, je pri spätnom pohľade úžasné.
Kaprizov bol nepovšimnutý čiastočne kvôli svojej výške (v tom čase meral 175 cm), ale bol v ňom talent. V roku 2014 si ho vybrali ako prvého v drafte KHL a do najvyššej ruskej ligy prenikol už vo veku 17 rokov.
Minnesota pritom Kaprizova nemala ako získať, svoj draftový výber v piatom kole vymenila spoločne s Justinom Falkom do Columbusu Blue Jackets za Jordana Leopolda.
Minnesota získala tento výber v piatom kole od Bostonu Bruins. Bolo z toho celkovo 135. miesto, a keď zaznelo meno Kaprizov, bolo to prvýkrát za posledných 11 rokov, čo si organizácia vybrala hráča z Ruska. Bolo to prinajmenšom čiastočne spôsobené tým, aké neisté môže byť získať hráčov pod zmluvou v Rusku. Sám Kaprizov neskôr v rozhovore priznal, že draft vôbec nesledoval. Zameriaval sa na domácu kariéru.
V roku 2016 sa z rodného Novokuznecka presunul do Savalat Ufa, kde strávil jednu sezónu. Počas tejto sezóny mu mimoriadne vyšiel juniorský šampionát v Kanade, na ktorom ako kapitán a najlepší útočník turnaja doviedol Ruskú zbornú k bronzu. Na turnaji si pripísal 12 kanadských bodov za 9 gólov a 3 asistencie.
V roku 2017 podpísal novú zmluvu s CSKA Moskva do sezóny 2020, čím si oddialil príchod do NHL, ktorý, ako sa vtedy zdalo, možno nikdy nepríde.
No, viete, že o mňa nemali príliš veľký záujem. V ktorom kole ma vybrali? V piatom? Myslím si, že na mňa zabudli hneď po výbere. Až keď ma zobrali na juniorské majstrovstvá sveta začali o mňa prejavovať záujem a kontaktovať môjho agenta.
Povedal Kaprizov v roku 2017 na otázku, prečo nebol v tíme Wild.
Práve v armádnom klube CSKA prežil Kaprizov najvydarenejšie roky svojej kariéry. V sezóne 2018/19 sa mu podarilo zdvihnúť nad hlavu Gagarinov pohár a dvakrát sa stal najlepším strelcom KHL. Vybojoval si aj miesto v reprezentácii a na zimných olympijských hrách v Pjongčangu 2018 rozhodol finále gólom v predĺžení proti senzácii z Nemecka. Kaprizov sa stal najlepším strelcom olympiády. O rok neskôr si zo šampionátu v Bratislave a v Košiciach odniesol bronzovú medailu.
Po šampionáte sa presunul do zámoria, kde si vo svojej prvej sezóne pripísal 54 kanadských bodov za 29 gólov a 25 asistencií. Po tejto sezóne sa stal víťazom Calder trophy, ktorá sa každoročne udeľuje najlepšiemu nováčikovi sezóny.
V minulej sezóne sa stal ruský krídelník len siedmym hráčom, ktorý v sezóne pokoril stobodovú hranicu, čo sa predtým stalo v ročníku 2006/2007. Kaprizov v tejto sezóne prekonal métu 200 bodov v NHL, na čo mu stačilo odohrať len 167 zápasov. Len traja aktívni hráči túto métu dosiahli skôr Sidney Crosby (142), Alexander Ovečkin (165) a Evgeni Malkin (166). Aktuálne sa z chlapca z dediny stal jeden z najlepších hráčov v NHL.
