Třiadvacetiletý český hokejista na své další angažmá nečekal dlouho. Poté co v NHL rozvázal kontrakt s Nashvillskými Predátory se upsal jihočeskému Motoru, za který hrál již v mládežnických kategoriích. Budějovičtí se tak mohou těšit na útočníka s velmi dobrými fyzickými parametry.
Kondelík již prostředí Motoru zná výborně, za kategorie U16 a U18 zde odehrál v letech 2013-16 přes 100 zápasů. V roce 2016 se přesunul do americké juniorky USHL, kde za tým Muskegon Lumberjacks dvě sezony. Za celkem 90 zápasů si zde připsal 59 bodů a v roce 2019 na něj ukázal Nashville. Následně pokračoval další tři roky v americké juniorce, tentokrát univerzitní, NCAA. Za 126 zápasů v drese Connecticutské univerzity si připsal solidních 104 bodů, za které byl odměněn nováčkovskou smlouvou od Predátorů. Zde si bohužel zahrál pouze na farmě v Milwaukee, kde zaznamenal pouze 11 bodů a tak se dohodl na rozvázání smlouvy a odchodu do Evropy.
Ale kam? Bylo jasné, že se po dvoumetrovém útočníkovi strhne mela a bude ho chtít podepsat každý. Jáchym se ale nakonec vrátil domů, na jih Čech.
„Jakmile jsme zjistili, že Jáchym nebude pokračovat v Nashvillu, začali jsme jednat. Jeho angažování nám dává velký smysl, je to odchovanec Motoru a velmi perspektivní hráč, který, jak věříme, pomůže týmu k ještě lepším výsledkům“.

O Kondelíka měly údajně zájem ještě kluby z Třince, Vítkovic a Pardubic. Dvoumetrový centr nakonec ale následoval svého otce, který za Motor chytal, a podepsal zde. Zprvu nebylo jasné, kdy bude moci nastoupit do kolotoče extraligy, nakonec je vše připraveno a první zápas odehraje dnes na domacím ledě proti Karlovým Varům.
Motor odehraje tři ze čtyř zápasů do konce první čtvrtiny doma, představí se proti Varům, Třinci poté je čeká Kladno a na konec Pardubice. V těchto zápasech se může ihned ukázat Kondelíkova síla v předbrankovém prostoru a na vhazování.
Máme s ním dlouhodobější plány, ale věřím, že nám pomůže hned, že zvýší konkurenci mezi útočníky. Je to velký, vysoký hráč s dlouhou hokejkou, jako centr může chodit na vhazování, což je pro nás velmi důležité. Může hrát přesilovky i oslabení. Má dobré návyky, co můžeme soudit dle videa, tak do našeho systému se bude hodně hodit, protože farma, kde hrál, hrála podobným systémem. Pokud to vezme za své, bude díky své postavě velmi platný v předbrankovém prostoru, obránci s ním budou mít problémy. Zlepšil i své bruslení. Samozřejmě ho můžeme a budeme stále zlepšovat.“
