Štvrťfinálové série sa začali, my sa však vrátime ešte k základnej časti. O zložení slovenského a zahraničného tímu základnej časti tento rok rozhodovali fanúšikovia. Do ankety sa zapojilo 71 respondentov, ktorí vybrali dvoch zahraničných brankárov a ôsmich zahraničných obrancov.
Brankári
Brankárskou jednotkou tímu sa vďaka lepšej úspešnosti zákrokov stal lotyšský brankár Gustavs Grigals. Grigals prišiel do Trenčína v priebehu sezóny, keď brankársku dvojicu tvorili Michal Valent a Marcel Melicherčík, ktorí však nepodávali najlepšie výkony. Príchod Grigalsa a trénera Tommiho Hämäläinena výrazne pomohol nielen k záchrane Trenčínu, ale aj neskoršiemu postupu do štvrťfinále. V základnej časti ochytal celkovo 32 zápasov s vynikajúcou úspešnosťou zákrokov na úrovni 92,94 %. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 56,34 % respondentov (40 hlasov).
Rovnaký počet hlasov ako Grigals získal aj maďarský brankár Adam Vay. Popradská jednotka nastupuje v Poprade už druhú sezónu. V tejto sezóne ukazuje svoje kvality naplno, keď v 48 odchytaných dueloch zaznamenal úspešnosť zákrokov na úrovni 92,70 %. Mimoriadne vynikol v štatistike čistých kont, ktorých nazbieral počas sezóny až osem. Druhý najlepší v tejto štatistike, Pavel Kantor, si pripísal len tri shutouty. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 56,34 % respondentov (40 hlasov).
Prvá obranná dvojica
V tíme základnej časti nemôže chýbať najproduktívnejší obranca. Tento titul si vyslúžila predsezónna posila Banskej Bystrice – Gabriel Chicoine. Kanadský bek prišiel na slovenské klziská s veľkými očakávaniami, keďže v zámorskej ECHL dosahoval priemer 0,86 bodu na zápas. Svoju povesť potvrdil naplno, keď v 54 stretnutiach základnej časti nazbieral 42 kanadských bodov (9+33). Vo vyraďovacej časti už stihol zaznamenať asistenciu na gól Matthewa Bouchera. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 66,20 % respondentov (47 hlasov).
Najlepším pravým obrancom základnej časti sa podľa fanúšikov stal Miguel Tourigny. Kanadský mladík už v sezóne 2022/2023 ukázal svoj kvality ako líder trenčianskej defenzívy vo veku len 21 rokov. Po sezóne strávenej v ECHL sa vrátil na Slovensko, kde ho angažoval nováčik zo Žiliny. Ihneď sa zaradil medzi najväčšie mená. Rovnako ako Gabriel Chicoine nastúpil do 54 zápasov základnej časti, v ktorých zaznamenal 41 kanadských bodov (9+32). Svoj bodový priemer na zápas zvýšil z trenčianskych 0,62 na 0,76. Zahviezdil aj v prvom zápase play-off, keď si pri výhre „vlkov“ 3:1 pripísal tri asistencie. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 81,69 % respondentov (58 hlasov).
Druhá obranná dvojica
Medzi lídrov obrany sa zaradil aj košický zadák Max Gildon. Bývalý mládežnícky reprezentant USA prišiel do Tipos Extraligy z nemeckého Adleru Mannheim, kde plnil prevažne defenzívne úlohy. V Košiciach však naplno ukázal svoj ofenzívny potenciál – v 53 zápasoch základnej časti nazbieral 38 kanadských bodov (6+32). Na produktívne výkony nadviazal aj v prvom zápase play-off proti Trenčínu, keď strelil úvodný gól stretnutia. Košiciam to však na víťazstvo nestačilo. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 64,79 % respondentov (46 hlasov).
Do sezóny vstúpil raketovým tempom obranca Nitry Alex Cotton. Dvadsaťtriročný bek prišiel pod Zobor počas minulého ročníka, v ktorom zaznamenal 31 kanadských bodov. Tohtoročnú základnú časť odštartoval vo fantastickej forme – už po šiestich zápasoch mal na konte dva góly a deväť asistencií. Zdravotné problémy mu však zabránili odohrať plnú porciu duelov. Napriek tomu v 48 stretnutiach nazbieral 39 kanadských bodov (6+33). V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 67,61 % respondentov (48 hlasov).
Tretia obranná dvojica
Jedným z najkvalitnejších obrancov tejto sezóny bol Cal Foote. Kanadský obranca prišiel na Slovensko z AHL. Na ľade patril k najlepším hráčom Liptákov, keď nazbieral 30 kanadských duelov (3+27) v 38 zápasoch. Vyšší bodový priemer na zápas mali z obrancov len Ryan Mackinnon a vyššie spomínaný Alex Cotton. Charakteristická bola najmä jeho silná strela príklepom, ktorou skóroval dvakrát v zápase s Michalovcami. Jeho kľúčovú rolu v tíme Liptákov potvrdzuje aj viac ako 23 minút priemerného herného času na zápas. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 59,15 % respondentov (42 hlasov).
Ďalším z útočných obrancov vo fanúšikovskom výbere je Ryan Mackinnon. Druhý najlepší strelec spomedzi obrancov patril medzi najlepších ofenzívnych bekov celej extraligy. V 39 zápasoch zaznamenal 33 kanadských bodov (10+23). S priemerom 0,85 bodu na zápas mu patrí v tejto štatistike druhé miesto len za nitrianskym obrancom Alexom Cottonom. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 66,20 % respondentov (47 hlasov).
Štvrtá obranná dvojica
Jediným tímom s dvojicou hráčov v tomto zozname je HK Poprad. Okrem Adama Vaya sa cez hlasovanie prebojoval do výberu aj kanadský obranca Trent Bourque. Pôvodne náhradník za nepodarený príchod Bradyho Keepera sa stal ofenzívnym lídrom obrany „kamzíkov“. Obranca so skúsenosťami z nemeckej DEL, fínskej Liigy alebo druhej švédskej ligy chytil vynikajúcu formu na konci základnej časti. Nakoniec ho to vynieslo na 23 kanadských bodov (3+20) v 54 zápasoch. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 33,80 % respondentov (24 hlasov).
Ako štvrtý pravý obranca sa napokon prebojoval do výberu aj americký obranca Sena Acolatse. Po skvelom ročníku v Michalovciach sa stal súčasťou Slovana Bratislava, v ktorom zažil životnú začiatok sezóny. Kvôli viacerým nebezpečným faulom však musel vynechať až 13 stretnutí. V 41 zápasoch zaznamenal 31 kanadských bodov (11+20). S jedenástimi gólmi sa stal o jeden gól najlepším strelcom spomedzi obrancov. V ankete ho do svojho tímu základnej časti zaradilo 61,97 % respondentov (44 hlasov).
