V nedeľňajšom zápase 45. kola hokejovej Tipos extraligy sa proti sebe na Liptove postavili tímy Banskej Bystrice a Liptovského Mikuláša. Po napínavom súboji sa z výhry radoval domáci tím, zverenci trénera Juraja Faitha zdolali “baranov“ 4-2 a v Tipos extralige im patrí celkové desiate miesto.
Po sérii troch porážok hokejisti z Liptovského Mikuláša konečne zvíťazili na domácom ľade, podľahli im hráči Banskej Bystrice. Od začiatku zápasu mali domáci značnú prevahu, na brankára Rabčana vyslali len v prvej tretine pätnásť striel a sladká odmena na seba nenechala dlho čakať. Skóre otvoril už v pätnástej minúte Fekiač. Do šatne sa tak domáci vracali s jednogólovým náskokom.
Hostí potrápili “liptáci“ aj na začiatku druhej tretiny, kedy po necelých dvoch minútach trafil Matthew Berry odrazený puk vo vzduchu a ten následne doputoval do siete. Po chvíli využili domáci aj presilovú hru po nedovolenom zákroku Matoušeka, za necelé tri minúty tak viedol Liptovský Mikuláš nad Banskou Bystricou už o tri góly. Hostia sa však nechceli vzdať bez boja. Barani nečakane zrýchlili tempo, v piatej minúte sme tak boli svedkami dvoch rýchlych gólov hostí. Strelou z modrej čiary sa len necelé tri minúty od posledného gólu presadil Patrik Luža a po prihrávke Langkowa sa do šance dostal Gašpar. Ten strelou z pozície medzi kruhmi nekompromisne prekonal brankára Krasikova. Bystričania sa tak do šatne vracali s rozdielom jedného gólu.
V treťom dejstve už bolo výrazne viditeľné spomalenie tempa hry, hráči výrazne stiahli nohu z plynu, do šancí sa snažili dostať presnejšími nahrávkami. K obrovskej príležitosti sa dostal až v päťdesiatej štvrtej minúte Hora, strelu k pravej tyčke však skvelým zákrokom schoval do lapačky Krasikov. Bystrica tak bola nútená odvolať svojho brankára, vyrovnávajúci gól sa im aj napriek početnej prevahe streliť nepodarilo. Po vyhranom vhadzovaní v obrannom pásme využil situáciu Erik Ullman, ktorý strelou cez celé ihrisko trafil prázdnu bránu a spečatil tak výhru domácich. Bystričania aj napriek nepriaznivému stavu hrali až do konca bez brankára, zmeniť skóre sa im však už nepodarilo. Liptovský Mikuláš zdolal Banskú Bystricu v pomere 4:2.
