V pondelok 18. septembra sa koná historicky prvý draft novej súťaže Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). Už je zverejnený kompletný zoznam prihlásených hráčok, medzi nimi sa nachádzajú dve slovenské útočníčky Janka Hlinka a Iveta Klimášová-Boneberg.
Na programe je 15 kôl, kde si šesť zakladajúcich tímov budú vyberať spomedzi 268 hráčok. Oprávnenú listinu tvorí 146 útočníčok, 78 obrankýň a 44 brankárok, ktoré zastupujú 17 krajín.
Je to kľúčový moment v raste ženského hokeja, kde mnohé hráčky tradične mali dve zamestnania, z dôvodu nízkych platov.
Generálni manažéri šiestich tímov majú za sebou rušných prvých pár týždňov. Každému tímu bolo umožnené podpísať tri voľné hráčky, čím sa z trhu odstránili vysoko profilové hráčky ako Marie-Philip Poulin, Sarah Nurse a Hilary Knight.
Mechanika draftu
Na rozdiel od NHL neexistuje minimálny vek hráča, ktorý má byť draftovaný. Najmladšou hráčkou draftu PWHL je 16-ročná Lilly Legault z Peterboroughu.
Hráčky, ktoré v pondelok nebudú počuť svoje mená, sa stanú voľnými hráčkami a môžu si dohodnúť zmluvu s akýmkoľvek trhom, s ktorým chcú.
Kolektívna zmluva vyžaduje, aby tímy mali na sústredeniach minimálne 28 hráčok, ktorých otvorenie sa očakáva v novembri. To znamená, že každý tím by musel pozvať aspoň 10 hráčok do kempu.
Obsadenie Slovenska
Na drafte sa predstavia slovenské útočníčky Janka Hlinka a Iveta Klimášová-Boneberg.
27-ročná Hlinka pôsobí už druhý rok v Amerike v tíme Connectictut Whales, kde za uplynulú sezónu nastúpila do 23 zápasov so ziskom 3 bodov (1+2). Zúčastnila sa aj na tohtoročných MS 1-A divízie, na ktorých Slovenky zostúpili o divíziu nižšie. Na turnaji nastúpila do 5 zápasov bez zisku bodov.
Druhá spomínaná 25-ročná Iveta Klimášová-Boneberg odohrala už 3 sezóny v drese Buffalo Beauts. Medzitým rok odohrala v maďarskej EWHL lige v drese MAC Budapešť.
Myslím si, že je úžasné, že mladé dievčatá teraz môžu začať snívať o tom, že budú robiť čo ich baví a budú za to dobre zaplatené.
