Jeho meno na drafte zaznelo z šesťdesiateho tretieho miesta. Tento výber patril New Yorku Rangers, ktorý v tejto sezóne zatiaľ svieti na prvom mieste.
Teraz však mladý útočník pôsobí v AHL v mužstve Hartford Wolf Pack. Tu si zatiaľ nazbieral v osemnástich zápasoch sedem kanadských bodov. Posledné z nich však nasvedčujú, že je forward pri chuti, má v nich bilanciu takmer bod na zápas.

Nadchádzajúci šampionát bude pre Sýkoru už tretím a zároveň posledným v poradí v kategórii do 20 rokov. Nie je preto tajomstvom, že do neho fanúšikovia a aj spoluhráči vkladajú veľké nádeje. „Vôbec s tým nemám problém, som ochotný prijať takúto rolu a neskutočne sa už na to teším. Pevne dúfam, že prídu všetci chalani, ktorí budú môcť a opäť vytvoríme fantastickú partiu.“
Minuloročné majstrovstvá nedopadli pre našich podľa predstáv. Vo štvrťfinále sa nám stala osudným domáca Kanada. Gól na 4:3 z hokejky Connora Bedarda nám nedoprial tak vytúžený postup a preto dúfame, že s pomocou hráčov ako je aj Adam Sýkora tento rok budeme môcť pomýšľať na väčší úspech.
