Ottawa Senators si zabezpečila služby talentovaného mladého obrancu Jakea Sandersona a podpísala s ním osemročné predĺženie zmluvy v hodnote 64,4 milióna dolárov. V zmluve, ktorá nadobudne platnosť od sezóny 2024-25, si Sanderson ročne zarobí 8,05 milióna dolárov.
Zmluva s ročným príjmom 8,05 milióna dolárov začína platiť od sezóny 2024/2025 a trvá do sezóny 2031/2032. Sanderson vstupuje do nadchádzajúcej sezóny v poslednom roku svojej základnej zmluvy.

Spolu s Owenom Powerom z Buffala bol na konci sezóny zaradený do All-Rookie tímu National Hockey League v obrane.
Sanderson je posledným mladým hráčom Senators, ktorý v posledných rokoch podpísal s klubom dlhodobý kontrakt. Obranca Thomas Chabot začal tento trend predĺžením na osem rokov v roku 2019, kapitán Brady Tkachuk sa zaviazal na sedem rokov v roku 2021 a centri Tim Stützle a Josh Norris podpísali osemročné zmluvy v minulej sezóne.
Sandersona si Ottawa vybrala v drafte 2020 ako piateho v poradí. Pred vstupom do NHL odohral dve sezóny na univerzite v Severnej Dakote. Pomohol tiež Spojeným štátom získať zlato na juniorských majstrovstvách sveta v hokeji v roku 2021.
